Stop by and visit our Festival Store, located in the convention center lobby across from the Registration Desk and check-in kiosks.
Our store is unique for its wide variety of quality brands in men’s, ladies’, and children’s wear that have been customized with our colorful logo featuring the Kiskadee, Altamira Oriole and Green Jay triad.  In addition to brands such as Banana Republic, Danskin, Columbia, Spyder, and Buffalo, we also offer ball caps, visors and bandanas, rainwear, stocking caps, bird ornaments and jigsaw puzzles, a comprehensive collection of festival posters and patches, and more—all at very reasonable prices.
To serve as the piece de resistance of our inventory, the festival commissions a different artist each year to create the artwork of our designated bird-of-the-year, selected from our list of Valley specialty birds.  The artwork becomes the centerpiece of the year’s festival commemorative t-shirt, patch, and poster.  The Festival Store is the only place you can purchase these beautiful souvenirs of your visit to the festival.  Start or continue your collection of these unique and artistic tees by stopping by the Festival Store.
The Festival Store is operated and staffed entirely by volunteers, and all proceeds help fund the continuation of our non-profit festival.  The store operates only during the days of the festival.  As essentially a six-day pop-up vendor, inventory is limited; so if you see an item in a color and size that you like, don’t delay!
November is a great time to shop for holiday gifts and support this great festival.  The store is open from Tuesday through Sunday during festival week and is staffed each day from before the day’s earliest departing field trip until the end of evening’s last event.

The Artist
The 2025 Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival artwork features three Green Jays splashing in water created by former Harlingen CISD student Terrilyn “Terri” Alaniz
These playful Green Jays capture the excitement of watching these striking birds frolic in the wild. A background of stunning native foliage hints at the diversity of landscapes the Rio Grande Valley has to offer birds and birders alike.
After moving to the RGV in 1996  from Canada with her family, Terrilyn attended Treasure Hills Elementary, Coakley Middle School, and Harlingen High School South (Class of 2003).  Terri pursued a  degree in graphic design and combined her love of art and nature to found Off the Beaten Path  RGV. Terri currently works as a full-time conservation artist and wildlife photographer.  She is also a part-time birding guide and enjoys taking novice and experienced birders on tours across the Rio Grande Valley enjoying the bounty of South Texas wildlife.
Terri emphasizes the unique personality of each creature in her wildlife illustrations, aiming to offer insights into the disposition of the animal she depicts. She claims that she spends more time detailing the eyes of animals to truly capture their character than she ever had to when doing human portraits. While depicting dazzling eyes is one of Terri’s illustrative specialties, her favorite part of creating art is hiding special sentimental details for friends and family to find in her paintings.
Terri serves as the President of the Arroyo Colorado Audubon Society, the Chair of Marketing for the RGV Birding Festival, and is a certified Texas Master Naturalist. Terrilyn also works as the Conservation Artist/Photographer promoting and aiding research for Cactus Creek Ranch in Rio Hondo, TX.
